LVG Birthday Cake was made in celebration of the 5th anniversary of the gallery concept Lion vs Gorilla, created by Jimmy Bulosan and Heather Philips.
Lion vs Gorilla's mission is to connect artists to the larger community, and challenge the notion that the art-viewing experience should be a passive one. LVG Birthday Cake was designed with these initiatives in mind, as well as implying Bulosan & Philips's more subtle institutional critique.
